Chittorgarh Tourism

Chittorgarh a tiny city of Rajasthan exists in the south of the state but north western location in India. On its side is a huge hill of Aravali ranges and the shore of tributary Gambheri River touch the city. The other rivers in its vicinity are Banas, Bedach, and Jakahern. The other tributaries that flow through the region are Barhmani and Gunjali. The city with rich Rajput history highlighting valor bravery sacrifice and morality has various architectural structures to portrait these values.

The places of interest for tourists in the form of palaces, forts, include Chittaur fort or water fort, Padmini palace, Fateh Prakash Palace with museum, Rana kumbha Palace, seven gates of the fort, tower of victory and fame; gaumukh reservoir,Meera temple, Kalika Mata Temple, Jain temple, Shyam temple and Maha sati. In the adjoining area and at easy reach are some places worth a visit. These are Menal temples of the 12th century, Bassi wildlife sanctuary, Sita Mata sanctuary, Jagat temple of Durga dating back to 10th century, and Bijapur castle. Excursion to these places is very popular.

There are several moderately big and small eating joints in the city serving multi-cuisine to cater to all taste buds. The Rajasthani cuisine is served popular among these is Karhi, and Mirchi pickle.

Some of the markets liked by tourists include Nehru market, Moti market, new cloth market, and Krishi place. Souvenirs purchase includes the local wooden toys, leather items and printed cloth.

The rail and road network is well planned. Those wanting to reach by flight will have to drive down from Udaipur or Jaipur. Then drive down to the city.
