Udaipur Tourist Attraction


Udaipur or the city of sunrise was planned by Maharana Uday Singh in 1567. It is also called a city of Lakes. The old city contours of this Rajasthan city are made by city wall. The railway station and bus terminal are close to the wall city. Each has tourists’ information counter. It is an important tourist destination. In earlier times it was the capital of Mewar. Most palaces are now hotels combining the ancient culture with modernity.

The old buildings and palaces are extraordinarily in their architecture and engravings. Each sightseeing destination is historically important. Tourists visit Jain temple, Kumbhalgarh, bagore ki Haveli, Lake Pichhola, City palace, Eklingji temple, Jaisamand lake, Rajputana Football club, Lake Fatehsagar, Jag mandir, cable car, Chetak Smarak, Sajjan Ghat, Srinathji Temple, Sas-Bahu temple etc. Apart from this there are several ancient structures where an outing can be arranged.

There is ample street food in Udaipur from different states of India. Dil Jani is the famous local food. Rajasthani food like Dal Baati-churma, Gatte Ki sabji and Kachori etc is relished by tourists of all categories. Rajasthani Dhali platter is filling and tasty.

Shopping is a delight in Udaipur. At Hathi Pol market has handicraft, and folk art items. The local miniature paintings are lots in demand. The cost is not exorbitant. Bada Bazar has huge showrooms and puny exhibitions. The local leather gifts, jewelry in silver and ivory, and dyed traditional fabric in tie and die and batik, is available at economical rates. Other places for shopping are Chetak Circle, city palace shopping and Bapu bazaar. All souvenir things can be purchased here. The city has Maharana Pratap airport not very far from the city. It has good railway and road transport connectivity with rest of India.
